Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pm

OVERVIEW:

Working as Full-time Data Research Analyst, you will leverage statistical and research methodologies to solve business issues. You will lead and assist in research studies, conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of research data, analyze and assess business performance, identify actionable insights and propose business improvement based on an informed understanding of internal and external data. You will also help in educating and developing the other research team members. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

o Using data mining, marketing research techniques and analytics to quantify relationships between internal and external factors on business outcomes, identify and profile market and customer segments and predict employee and customer behaviors

o Organizing primary and secondary research datasets for analysis related to key performance metrics

o Participating in analytics projects and predictive modeling based on varying sources of available customer and sales data

o Leading and managing analytical research projects through all stages to determine the why behind the numbers and generate hypotheses for growth

o Performing advanced econometric, computational and analytical research

o Interpreting model output, simplifying complex data and communicating findings and recommendations effectively to various internal departments, managers and executives

o Leading and managing development of analytics projects and predictive modeling using techniques such as linear and logistic regression, neural networks, decision trees, experimental design, cluster analysis, factor analysis, multivariate analysis, segmentation analysis and time series modeling

o Expanding expertise on multiple analytical tools and leveraging them to optimize speed and quality of project deliverables

o Training Fastenal employees on analytical tools, processes and methodologies

o Developing and establishing testing requirements to result in better decision making

o Compiling, reviewing and assessing information from academic journals, market/government economic and financial data

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

o Possess a degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Quantitative or Data Analysis, Data Science, Business Intelligence or related field of study

o Possess previous experience with analytical and statistical software packages such as R, SAS, SPSS, Python, JMP or similar

o Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy across large datasets

o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite

o Excellent written and oral communication skills

o Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information

o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented

o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency

o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

o Work independently as well as in a team environment

o Willingness to work a flexible schedule

o Willingness to travel

o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

o Demonstrate experience using large and complex data sets to complete analytics projects

o Previous research work experience, as an undergraduate research assistant, or involvement in an independent research project

FULL-TIME BENEFITS:

Fastenal offers a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees. This package includes Health, Life, Long Term Disability, and Dental Insurance, in addition to, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and 401(k) with an employer contribution.

COMPENSATION:

The base pay range for this position is $54,000 - 75,000. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
