We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Program
Manager
on our Medical Education team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 1 day a month in the office. This is a grant funded role contract role for 6 months with the possibility of 9-months.

This position is responsible for managing program and project/initiative activities to drive
and support the AMA in operationalizing health and racial equity in medical
education as assigned on an AMA Foundation grant funded health equity
accelerator project to address the changes to admissions practices to medical
school because of the SCOTUS decision on affirmative action. The role will work
closely with colleagues in Medical Education (MedEd), across several AMA
business units (especially the Center for Health Equity) to facilitate and
monitor the progress grant activities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program/Initiative Development and Management

  • Develop and oversee the program/initiatives of the AMA Foundation grant funded health equity project that seeks to address the changes to admission practices to medical school.
  • Work with the Director of EDB in MedEd in collaboration with the CHE director of Restorative Justice and other team members in the development of the program/initiatives related to the AMAF Accelerator grant.
  • Initiatives include Precision Medical Education, Innovation Roundtable Discussions, and Reimagining Medical Education Books.
  • Define the project's responsibilities, project's activities and deliverables.
  • Develop and follow a defined process for project/ initiative and events development and execution which includes, assembling project teams, task coordination, and issue management.
  • Deliver project tasks on time, with high quality and ensure that deliverables/milestones are met.
  • Identify barriers to a project's execution and potential solutions; coordinate activities with other teams internal and external collaborators, as applicable and adhere to the budget.
  • Manage external consultants working with AMA staff, including managing communications, monitoring contract deliverables and invoices.

Program Evaluation

  • In partnership with the Director, manage all program and project initiative evaluation, including evaluation and monitoring of key benchmarks and overall progress initiatives within and outside the business unit, including those that are externally facing - or work with externally contracted evaluator when contract is executed.
  • Collaborate in the planning and administration of survey distribution and data collection and the progress of programs and initiatives over time.

Internal/External Collaborations

  • Identify and build collaborations with minoritized physician organizations, minoritized student organizations, and other internal/ external entities to support the design of intervention initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external organizations and key collaborators and/or relevant stakeholders.
  • Define the project responsibilities, project activities and deliverables for collaborative work with external entities, as appropriate.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree or comparable experience required; Master's degree preferred.
  2. Demonstrated experience in program management required.
  3. Minimum 5 + years experience in health and racial equity, consulting with, and/or the facilitation of diverse groups required.
  4. Demonstrated experience with operational planning, budget planning, implementation and evaluation of multiple, complex projects including, convening project teams, organizing multi-faceted project plans, managing towards established timelines and project deliverables required.
  5. Knowledge of medical education admissions and legal implications preferred.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from different disciplines and backgrounds, contributing as a team member; self-motivated and a strong individual contributor required.
  7. Strong writing skills required, especially in the ability to conceptualize issues, synthesize a response and write/develop reports required.
  8. Strong presentation and public speaking skills required, including experience presenting and facilitating in a large group setting preferred.
  9. Some travel may be required.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $85,680-$113,526. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
