POSITION SPECIFICS

The Zhu lab at the Department of Entomology, The Pennsylvania State University, has a Postdoctoral Scholar position is available immediately. Join our dynamic and collaborative research team as a Postdoctoral Scholar in our interdisciplinary research environment to investigate mechanisms of chemical adaptation in pests and pollinators. We are seeking a motivated individual with good communication and written skills, a passion for learning, and the ability to solve problems independently in a diverse scientific landscape. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research projects and drive innovation in your field.

Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Toxicology, Physiology, or related discipline(s) completed by start date.

2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.

3. Strong ability to learn and adapt to new concepts, methodologies, and techniques quickly.

4. Demonstrated ability to solve problems with little direct supervision, showing initiative and good judgment in complex research scenarios.

5. Experience working in an interdisciplinary research environment is preferred but not required.

6. Proven track record of research productivity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals.

7. Ability to work collaboratively with team members from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

8. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

Conduct independent research projects within the scope of the lab's interdisciplinary research goals. Collaborate with team members to design and implement experiments, analyze data, and interpret results. Communicate research findings through presentations at conferences and writing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Contribute to the development of grant proposals and assist with securing funding for ongoing research projects. Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the lab. Participate in lab meetings, seminars, and other scientific events to foster intellectual exchange and collaboration.
