Overview

Element has an exciting opportunity for a General Manager to lead and drive growth for our Aerospace & Energy business within the Fort Myers, FL lab. This leadership role is responsible for delivering operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic direction, with a specific focus on inspection services and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) solutions. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in the inspection services industry, with experience in regulatory compliance, customer quality requirements, and managing advanced testing technologies.



Responsibilities

    Lead and inspire a culture of safety first in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Safety & Compliance: Lead and inspire a safety-first culture in compliance with OSHA, Nadcap, AS9100, and other relevant industry standards, ensuring adherence to all NDT regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Operational Excellence: Accountable for achieving annual operational plan commitments, including revenue, profit (EBITDA responsibility of $14M), working capital, and operational performance metrics.
  • Ensure all NDT processes (RT, UT, PT, MT, ET, etc.) are executed per customer specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a customer-focused culture with strong engagement on technical problem-solving, NDT inspection solutions, and corrective action plans to improve Net Promoter Scores (NPS).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 100 employees, including certified Level II and Level III NDT technicians, engineers, and support staff.
  • Plan and oversee investments in NDT equipment and advanced inspection technologies; ensure facilities and equipment meet operational and accreditation requirements.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and NDT-specific process improvements to drive quality, productivity, and turnaround time (TAT) improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality teams to maintain compliance with ASME, API, AS9100, Nadcap, and other relevant NDT and aerospace standards.
  • Build relationships with key customers in the aerospace, energy, and manufacturing sectors, identifying opportunities for expanded NDT service offerings.
  • Prepare accurate financial plans and forecasts, maintain acceptable working capital levels, and take corrective actions to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and execute long-term growth strategies based on NDT market trends, technology advancements, and customer needs within the aerospace and energy industries.


Skills / Qualifications

  • 8+ years' experience in operations or general management within the inspection or testing services industry, preferably with a strong focus on NDT.
  • Experience managing an enterprise with at least 20 employees, including exempt-level managers and certified technicians.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or manufacturing-related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Strong knowledge of NDT methods and standards (e.g., ASNT, ISO 9712, Nadcap requirements).
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
    • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to proactively identify financial challenges, analyze available information and identify innovative solutions.
    • Must be able to effectively trouble shoot and resolve day to day business challenges.
    • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously, within an intense, deadline-driven environment to deliver business results.
    • Has a willingness to take on new challenges and is able to be resilient when meeting difficulty and ambiguity.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and influence others, as well as being able to articulate and effectively adjusts style, message and approach to the audience.
    • Ability to travel 25%
