Position Title: Research Administration Management Associate
Working Title: Research Administration Manager, Center for Innate Immunity and Inflammation
Supervisor: Director, Center for Innate Immunity and Inflammation (CIII)
Department: OSUCCC James, Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO)

Position Summary:

This position plays a central role in administration of research initiatives of the Center for Innate Immunity and Inflammation (CIII) and the laboratory of Glen Barber, PhD, supporting scientific and translational productivity. The Analyst collaborates extensively with CIII faculty, staff, and multidisciplinary research teams to advance research programs aligned with the Centers strategic vision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Research Administration and Development

  • Administrator for the Centers research operations, including oversight of budgets, grant planning and execution, personnel coordination, and timelines.
  • Identifies new research funding opportunities and facilitates proposal development in partnership with institutional offices.
  • Develops and monitors project milestones, progress reports, and financial deliverables for ongoing grants and contracts.
  • Supports manuscript and presentation preparation; provides editorial support and coordination for peer-reviewed publications and technical documents.

Executive and Strategic Support to CIII Director

  • Serves as the primary administrative liaison for Dr. Glen Barber; manages complex calendars, coordinates travel logistics, and tracks critical deadlines related to grants, manuscripts, reviews, and fiscal reporting.
  • Maintains Directors CV, assists with drafting proposals and high-level documents, and performs literature searches.
  • Exercises discretion and confidentiality in managing communication and sensitive materials.

Program and Event Coordination

  • Coordinates recurring internal and external scientific programming including seminars, symposia, advisory board meetings, etc.
  • Manages event logistics including scheduling, catering, materials preparation, and technical set-up.
  • Facilitates faculty recruitment activities, onboarding logistics, and special strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters degree preferred.
  • Prefer 4-6 years of progressively responsible experience in research administration, program/project management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research funding mechanisms, compliance, and grant management best practices.
  • Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with biomedical or immunological research environments.
  • Experience supporting high-level faculty in academic or clinical research settings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Workday and MS Teams preferred.
