What You'll Do: As the shipping supervisor, you will be in charge and oversee the entire shipping department consisting of multiple shippers and a driver scheduler. Understand the importance of our shipping department role in covering the Bay Area, North Bay and Sacramento markets. It's crucial that we stay on task and consistently meet our customers expectations regarding delivery times and pour rates. Shipping: We must maintain strict adherence to rules and requirements to ensure cost savings and accurate ordering of any special materials from the correct plants. This approach will also help set our team up for success. Scheduling: Schedule work according to plant capacity and YPH (Yards per hour) demand. Oversee the driver schedule. Schedule shipping staff as needed. Meal breaks / Lunches: Follow all union rules and state laws and ensure we are meeting all requirements in providing meal periods for both the drivers and the shipping staff. Reports: You will need to be able to run and understand all daily reports for the shipping department which requires your understanding of various technological platforms. Meetings: Attend business unit meetings to get a better understanding of forecasted work, daily meetings with different departments to ensure the next day schedule is set and manageable. Also, meetings with leadership to go over progress/growth with staff and ensuring the department meets goals and expectations for successful operations. This includes people management, systems' oversight, scheduling and helping out the staff with overflow. Additional: All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Skills You'll Need: Multi-tasking - Must be able to take on and properly prioritize multiple job / duties within the department as well as our area ready-mix plant locations. Communication - Must be able to communicate any and all feedback regarding orders, plants, drivers or scheduling. Cross-communicate with other departments to make sure operations are running efficiently. Technology - Must be comfortable in the use of associated computer software programs, and have the adaptability to continue technological growth and help with innovation. What You'll Like About Us: Salary Range. The base salary range for this role is between $85,000 - $115,000 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.
