Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum collection combines global textile collections numbering some 25,000 artworks with the Albert H. Small Washingtoniana Collection documenting the establishment of Washington, DC as a national capital. Exhibitions and educational programs take place at the public museum on 21st and G Streets, supported by a state-of-the-art collections care facility on GW's Ashburn Campus. The museum is committed to academic engagement by supporting classes and research, as well as by hiring students for museum work. The museum is AAM accredited.
The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum seeks applications for the Digital Asset Management Administrator position. This position is responsible for working cross-departmentally to onboard, implement, and maintain the museum's new digital asset management system, Terentia.
This is a new position that will manage the DAMS, playing a vital role in preserving the museum's digital assets and providing access to them internally and externally.

Primary Job Responsibilities
* As part of a cross-department initiative, assist with implementing the digital asset management system ( DAMS), working with users across the Museum
* Back-End System Administration
Assist with planning and prioritizing the migration of assets into the DAMS
Utilize current standards, tools, scholarship, and practices related to digital collections and asset management
Organize, store, and retrieve digital assets, ensuring assets are accessible and secure
Develop and enforce metadata, security measures, permissions, controlled vocabularies, and access rights to material
Analyze and report on statistics pertaining to usage, access, rights/reproductions, etc. of the museum's digital assets
Provide system training and frontline user support, liaising with the vendor as needed
Assist with developing and implementing efficient workflows, processes, and procedures to facilitate ingestion of and access to digital assets
* Front-End System Coordination
Assist with development and implementation of a new public-facing collections website in collaboration with the Communications Department and GW Digital
Promote, optimize, and highlight use of digital assets across public-facing platforms, including the Museum's website
Liaise with DAM system vendor to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the public-facing site
Collaborate with IT and other key stakeholders on system development projects

This position may include an opportunity to serve as the instructor of record for a university course during normal business hours. The opportunity shall be mutually agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.

This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement ( CBA), which governs wages, benefits, and working conditions.

Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital asset management systems is desired
  • Experience with public-facing engagement tools is preferred
  • Experience using Terentia and/or MuseumPlus is a plus
  • Knowledge of digital rights management, data governance, standards, and process development
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Client-focused (individual user groups and Museum at large)
  • Successful experience coordinating large, collaborative projects with multiple partners
  • Experience in teaching and training staff, giving presentations to partners/stakeholders is desired

Hiring Range $62,982 - $84,850.51
