Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a forward-thinking, experienced Medical Director to lead our Radiology Department. This role combines strategic oversight with operational finesse. You'll guide a high-performing team, contribute to big-picture planning, and make sure every aspect of the department runs with precision and care.

This position is a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Strategic Planning and Department Leadership

  • Drive the development and execution of the department's goals and long-term strategy.
  • Create and lead annual work plans that align with hospital initiatives and improve outcomes.
  • Establish and enforce protocols that elevate care quality, efficiency, and innovation.

Clinical Oversight and Quality Management

  • Supervise daily clinical operations and ensure high standards across all radiology services.
  • Work closely with medical staff to maintain competency, credentialing, and performance.
  • Manage onboarding, evaluations, and support for both permanent and locum radiologists.

Administrative Operations and Collaboration

  • Contribute to budget planning, staffing decisions, and departmental resource allocation.
  • Serve as a key liaison between radiology and hospital administration, medical staff, and nursing leadership.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new programs and service lines.

Education, Mentorship, and Staff Development

  • Lead continuing medical education and in-service training programs.
  • Mentor physicians and help cultivate a department-wide culture of growth, learning, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative managers to enhance patient flow and service coordination.

    Qualifications and Expectations

    • MD or DO degree from an accredited Medical School.
    • Completion of an accredited residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
    • Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology.
    • Board certification in Radiology and eligibility for board certification in Interventional Radiology.
    • Strong clinical skills with a focus on patient-centered care and quality outcomes.

    Preferred Clinical

    • Experience in performing advanced interventional techniques and procedures.
    • Proficiency in using advanced imaging technologies and software.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

    Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies

    • Expertise in various imaging modalities including MRI, CT, and ultrasound.
    • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and radiology information systems (RIS).
    • Understanding of advanced interventional tools and technologies.

    Leadership Skills

    • Demonstrated experience in radiology leadership, clinical governance, and quality improvement.
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with commitment to teamwork and continuous development.
    • Experience implementing performance metrics and quality assurance initiatives.
    • Ability to lead with integrity, clarity, and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment.
    • Willingness to engage in hospital and community programs and represent the department with professionalism.
