In this role, you will execute and analyze laboratory-scale experiments to develop industrially viable yeast and bacteria for fermentation. Your work will involve collecting and documenting experimental data, applying microbiological and molecular biology techniques, and supporting the development of strains. You will contribute to our ongoing research projects, ensuring they align with department initiatives and business needs. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality will be essential as you document results, support the functions of an active microbial research laboratory, maintain microbial strain collections, and perform experimental fermentations.

What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biology, Bioengineering, Enology, Viticulture, or Fermentation Science and 1 year lab experience focused on fermentation and microbiological techniques; OR Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biology, Bioengineering, Enology, Viticulture, or Fermentation Science and a Gallo internship in QA Microbiology, Chemistry Research, Beverage Making, Winemaking Research or Analytical Lab.
- Required to Travel by Automobile up to 20% of the time.
- Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire.
- This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
- Required to be 21 years or older.
- Required to work non-traditional and extended hours during harvest.
- Required to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
- Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biology, Bioengineering, Enology, Viticulture, or Fermentation Science plus 3 years of lab experience focused on fermentation and microbiological techniques.
- Experience with standard microbiology techniques, including media preparation, aseptic technique, and yeast & bacteria propagation and maintenance. Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA isolation and purification, amplification, and visualization.
- Experience with fermentation and microbiological techniques.
- Fundamental knowledge of the biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry of yeast and bacteria associated with winemaking.
- Familiar with basic biological processes involved with winemaking, including primary and secondary fermentation.
Compensation:
- Hiring Salary Range Posted: $27.31 - $40.96 / hour
- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
