We Require
- Two years of experience in finance, budget development, accounting, or grant management
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
We Also Value
- Three or more years of experience in accounting and finance
- Experience working in governmental accounting and/or grant budgeting
- Experience working with Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word and Adobe
- Experience working with Advantage System, InfoAdvantage, and other financial systems
Job Contributions
- Analyzes the program's financial activity and trends to ensure optimal fiscal outcomes and coordinates any necessary modifications or justifications regarding the programs' budget within the realm of support of the Finance and Administration Division
- Prepares the annual budget, supporting documentation, forecasting reports and constantly monitors the budgets and expenditures which includes general fund, grant fund, and fee fund sources by establishing and maintaining various tracking systems for all funding sources
- Generates monthly Contractor Expenditure Reports (CERs) requesting reimbursement from grantors; maintains files on grant documentation
- Coordinates with PH Department procurement officers, grants staff, and other PH work groups to, prepare and monitor grants, create purchase requisition requests, process invoices, create purchase request forms, monitor purchase status and process subsequent payables
- Reviews invoices and ensures proper documentation, balances against requisitions, purchase orders and contracts
- Coordinates with the State, County, and PH Department Finance to prepare documents, gathers information, and participates as requested in regular audits regarding all aspects of financial reporting processes
- Prepares journal vouchers and initiates all necessary financial adjustments with departmental Finance/Budget staff
- Ensures compliance with State and County procedures to include recruitment efforts
Working Conditions
- The position is eligible for telework
- Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
- Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
- Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
