Medium Voltage Electrician - JLL

What this job involves:

We are looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Medium Voltage Electrician to support electrical infrastructure in utility and large-scale commercial environments. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting medium voltage systems (600V-35kV) critical to continuous power delivery across substations, distribution networks, and plant facilities.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Install, maintain, and repair medium voltage electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, and protective relays in utility substations and commercial plant settings.
• Perform cable terminations and splicing using certified methods (heat shrink, cold shrink, etc.).
• Conduct diagnostic tests such as insulation resistance, phasing, hi-pot, and load testing.
• Interpret and follow electrical one-lines, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Support planned outages, new equipment installs, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Work closely with utility engineers, plant maintenance teams, and contractors to ensure electrical systems meet operational needs and safety standards.
• Monitor and troubleshoot power distribution for reliability, identifying root causes of faults or interruptions.
• Maintain compliance with NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and utility company requirements.
• Participate in on-call and emergency response rotation to support 24/7 facility operations.
• Keep detailed maintenance logs and documentation on all service activities.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience with medium voltage systems in utility or industrial/commercial environments.
• Certified in medium voltage splicing and terminating (NCCER, IBEW, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of utility power distribution systems, switchgear operation, and relay protection.
• Excellent understanding of electrical safety protocols and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Physically fit to perform field work, climb ladders, and lift equipment as needed.
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

• electrical trade school or apprenticeship strongly preferred.

Salary/ Comp:

$35.25 - $41.73 USD per hour
