The Marketing Privacy Team plays a critical role in upholding that mission. We are trusted advisors to our internal marketing and sales teams, helping them understand their privacy responsibilities and partnering to ensure they can deliver business outcomes compliantly. The Marketing Privacy team is seeking a strategic and experienced Privacy Director, AdTech with experience in advertising technology (ad tech) to lead our global privacy initiatives across digital marketing, media, and data-driven advertising platforms. This role will be instrumental in shaping and operationalizing our privacy strategy to ensure compliance, build trust, and enable innovation in a rapidly evolving regulatory and technological landscape. ResponsibilitiesPrivacy Strategy & Governance Lead the development and execution of privacy strategies for ad tech, including programmatic advertising, data management platforms (DMPs), demand-side platforms (DSPs), and identity resolution.Serve as the resource on global privacy laws (e.g., General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)/ California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Digital Markets Act, ePrivacy) and internal Microsoft privacy standards as they relate to digital advertising and marketing technologiesPeople Management & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and grow a team of privacy professionals, fostering a culture of trust, inclusion, and continuous learning.Provide clear direction, regular feedback, and career development opportunities tailored to individual strengths and aspirations.Promote open communication, encouraging diverse perspectives and collaborative problem-solving.Executive & Cross-Functional LeadershipProvide recommendations to senior leaders on privacy risk and solutions to enable business priorities.Partner with Legal, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to embed privacy-by-design into advertising products and campaigns.Advise on the use of cookies, pixels, Software Development Kits (SDKs), and other tracking technologies, including consent management and user choice mechanisms.Risk Management & ComplianceConduct privacy reviews and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for marketing and ad tech initiatives.Monitor and respond to regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and industry best practices (e.g., Global Privacy Control).Data Ethics & InnovationChampion ethical data use in advertising, balancing personalization with user autonomy and transparency.Evaluate and implement privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) such as differential privacy, clean rooms, and anonymization techniques.Training & AwarenessDevelop and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders on ad tech privacy risks and compliance requirementsOtherEmbody our Culture and Values |
