Job Description

The Mental Health Training & Outreach Specialist supports the development, delivery, and strategic growth of mental health education initiatives across Missouri. As a member of the Mental Health First Aid Missouri team, this position plays a key role in facilitating nationally recognized mental health trainings, contributing to program visibility and impact, and working collaboratively to enhance public awareness and access to mental health support tools and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate Evidence-Based Trainings

  • Deliver Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Youth MHFA, teen MHFA, and Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) suicide prevention trainings to diverse audiences across Missouri.
  • Facilitate MHFA and Youth MHFA Instructor Training (Train-the-Trainer courses), supporting new instructors through onboarding and technical assistance.

Statewide Engagement & Representation

  • Represent MHFA Missouri at statewide conferences, community events, professional meetings, and exhibits.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to strategic partnerships in healthcare, education, workplace, and other priority sectors.

Program Growth & Strategy Development

  • Identify and implement strategies for expanding the reach of MHFA and related programs within targeted populations and industries.
  • Support the development of initiatives aimed at improving mental health literacy and reducing stigma through education and outreach.
  • Assist in identifying and expanding partnership and funding opportunities.

Communication & Program Impact

  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze program data (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Assist in the creation of outreach materials including social media content, one-pagers, reports, and program briefs to share impact and promote offerings.

Shift

40 hours/week. Monday through Friday. Occasional nights or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, education, psychology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification or eligibility to be certified as a Mental Health First Aid and/or QPR instructor.
  • Extensive experience facilitating Mental Health First Aid and ability to be onboarded as a MHFA Missouri Trainer.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: 55,000-70,000
Grade: GGS- 010
