Part-Time Ceramics Instructor - Salem YMCA

Sundays | 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Are you passionate about ceramics and love sharing your creativity with others? The Salem YMCA is looking for a Part-Time Ceramics Instructor to lead two beginner-level classes on Sunday mornings.

In this role, you'll guide students of all ages through the fundamentals of both wheel throwing and hand-building techniques in a supportive and welcoming environment. We're seeking someone enthusiastic, patient, and experienced in working with beginners-someone who can help students build confidence while exploring their artistic side.

What You'll Do:




  • Teach two ceramics classes on Sunday mornings from 9:00 AM-11:30 AM



  • Provide instruction in both wheel and hand-building techniques



  • Create a fun, safe, and inclusive learning atmosphere



  • Support and encourage students of all ages and skill levels



  • Ensure proper use and care of materials and equipment

  • Experience teaching ceramics, with proficiency in both wheel and hand-building



  • Ability to work with diverse age groups, especially beginners



  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills



  • Reliable, organized, and passionate about the arts

Qualifications


  • Prior experience teaching ceramics (wheel and handbuilding) required



  • Comfortable working with students of all ages, including youth, teens, and adults



  • Ability to create lesson plans and adapt instruction based on student needs



  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills



  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain



  • Must be at least 18 years of age
