The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 3 (Prince George's and Montgomery County) is currently recruiting for a Transportation Engineer III position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification.
Nature of Work: This position will assist the Assistant District Engineer-Traffic (ADE-T) and Team Leaders with preparing and reviewing various traffic engineering studies, with recommendation(s) of engineering solutions to a wide range of complex and sensitive issues in an urban/rural setting. The Transportation Engineer III will represent the State Highway Administration's Traffic Division at numerous meetings. This position will also function as the liaison between the ADE-T, Office of Traffic and Safety, Office of Highway Design, construction, maintenance, project planning, bridge design, access permits, materials and research, stakeholders and special projects. Also, this position is responsible for reviewing traffic engineering work performed by consultants. The Transportation Engineer III will evaluate traffic related issues (ie, maintenance of traffic, work zone, traffic control plans, traffic signal plans) for all federal, state, areawide, billwork, maintenance, and construction funded projects.
