Description

If you are a motivated student with skills and interest in RF circuits, Skyworks Greensboro Design Center is looking for you! As a home to an elite team of RF and Analog professionals you will work side by side with a mentor and grow your skills working on real products that will end up in the next generation of cellular phones.

When you join our team in Greensboro, you'll join a uniquely collaborative, multi-discipline engineering community who support each other working across our domestic design centers creating cutting edge products for global markets. You'll be paired with a mentor to help support you as an integral part of a team responsible for designing custom parts.

Validation Engineers' core focus is to create the linkage between design, characterization and production test. You will aid other team members deciphering and converting the customer's specification into a workable test solution. This involves both software and hardware development. In addition, you will work in an interdisciplinary team supporting the characterization and device validation of cellular RF front-end modules for the wireless industry,developing PA, RF switches, LNA, front-end modules for the high volume and fast paced cellular handset market.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with design engineers, technicians and layout engineers developing products for wireless mobile systems
  • Work activities will include: lab testing of circuits, assist in tuning and optimization of PA and control circuits, presentation of design expectations/results, and participation in design reviews


The circuit blocks involved in a typical product development may include:



  • Integrated Passive Devices
  • SAW/BAW Duplexers & High-Q RF Filters
  • Switches
  • Matching circuits
  • Control and Bias optimization


Software Tools used are:



  • Proprietary Skyworks tools (you will be provided training to use them)
  • C/C++ & scripting languages
  • Microsoft Office/Outlook
  • ADS/Cadence design tools


Hardware Tools used are:



  • Network Analyzers
  • Spectrum Analyzers
  • Signal Generators
  • Digital Receivers Load-Pull/Tuners

Required Experience and Skills

  • Excellent communication
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Eagerness to continually learn, a passion to win/contribute, ability to work in and thrive in a team environment
  • Possess proficiency in RF measurement equipment as well as test software development
  • Experience in software development methodologies and C/C++ programming skills are a must
  • Must demonstrate capability to operate in a multi-disciplinary team and adhere to project schedules
  • Must be enrolled at university and be able to work onsite in Greensboro June - August 2026

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience measuring, tuning, optimizing RF and/or analog/mixed-signal IC's
  • A strong understanding of RF fundamentals, analog design concepts, PA concepts, wireless knowledge, test equipment operation and test equipment automation is critical for success
  • Familiarity with 5G/4G/3G/2G cellular standards and component requirements is desired

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
