Overview of this Position:

The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for on-time purchasing of raw materials, components, and production supplies to support the company's established goals and production schedules; for assuring availability of inventory materials; escalation of supply challenges; for developing effective and efficient alternative suppliers; cultivating vendor relationships; assisting supplier negotiations for price, delivery, etc.; and following established policies, practices and procedures. Duties include forecasting and replenishment, creating and verifying POs, PO tracking and reconciliation and product onboarding. Work closely with project management, shipping/ receiving, accounting, operations and quality assurance.

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience.
  • 4+ years related work experience.
  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system experience.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management.
  • Understanding of cGMP, FDA guidelines and multinational regulatory standards.
  • Experience working with QAD system.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Purchase items (raw materials, components, and production supplies) according to established policies, practices and procedures.
  • Ensure timely delivery to support production schedules and assume complete ownership of purchase order system (input and tracking).
  • Maintain assigned items at desired inventory levels with use of manual and electronic tools. Ability to troubleshoot inventory discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement replenishment and safety stock strategies based on demand forecasts, market intelligence and product life cycles.
  • Provide recommendations on general purchasing guidelines, documentation, and standards for processes.
  • Analyze open order reports and expedite or extend deliveries to avoid schedule impact.
  • Track incoming POs as well as late PO reconciliation.
  • Partner with internal customers to facilitate supply chain initiatives and schedule adherence.
  • Responsible for purchase order accuracy regarding billed price and quantity; resolve purchase order discrepancies with suppliers, receiving and AP.
  • Maintain and foster supplier relationships; meet with vendors regarding capabilities, price quotes or production constraints.
  • Publish and submit forecasts to assigned suppliers.
  • Active participant in Supplier Quality Management team and recommend preferred suppliers.
  • As directed, supports vendor audits on current or potential vendors; determine suitability and capability to deliver quality, cost-effective goods.
  • Partner with internal customers to identify, organize, prioritize, and execute projects to meet supply chain initiatives.
