About the College of Health and Human Sciences

The Department of Nursing is housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS). CHHS embraces inclusivity and an orientation to lifelong learning to prepare diverse students for interculturally competent practice, research, and leadership in their disciplines. Position Summary

The Department of Nursing at MSU Denver invites applications for a non-tenure track one-year lecturer position. This 9-month appointment has the opportunity to be renewed and is a full-time position focused on teaching courses in the nursing curriculum. We are hoping to have a candidate hired to begin in Spring 2026.

Responsibilties

  • Teach 30 credits of upper-division courses in the nursing program during the fall and spring semesters of each academic year, with potential additional teaching responsibilities during summers as part of the extended duration beyond the initial 9-month period for additional pay. This may include teaching in the evenings, facilitating online courses, and conducting weekend sessions, utilizing multimedia and other technologies as appropriate.
  • Candidates must have experience and the ability to teach in Pharmacology and Medical Surgical or Pediatrics nursing. Additional teaching areas may include evidence-based practice, leadership and management, ethics, and other courses as required by the department. Instructors are expected to plan and deliver theoretical instruction as well as clinical or laboratory experiences that align with the program's mission, objectives, and curriculum.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum.
  • Participate in academic advising and guidance of students and be sensitive to the educational needs of students from diverse populations.
  • Conduct student assessments and evaluate student achievement.
  • Orient, mentor, and monitor clinical faculty and preceptors.
  • Participate in program, curriculum, and department policy development and evaluation.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, evaluating, and updating the nursing education program's purpose, mission, objectives, and student policies, including admission, progress, retention, and graduation.
  • Serve on department committees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.

Required Qualifications

  • An active, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado
  • Two years full-time or equivalent professional nursing clinical experience
  • Graduate degree in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in nursing or relevant field
  • Two years of teaching experience

Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 at Lecturer level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training.
