Surveyor 1 (Permanent) - Field Engineering & Contract Management Division

The Department of Conservation & Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Facility Design and Construction is looking for a detail-oriented registered Surveyor 1 to solve various property and topographical survey issues in order to carry out the mission of the bureau. As a Surveyor 1, you will provide staff support in the coordination and execution of all surveys required by the Bureaus of State Parks and Forestry. Specific duties will entail conducting research and gathering necessary evidence for the completion of boundary surveys. This may involve reporting to county courthouses for deeds, maps, and other pertinent data and contacting other agencies and sources to obtain information as necessary. You will also serve as the survey party chief and field supervisor which includes training park and forestry personnel to ensure proper task performance. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining detailed work records, marking and staking boundaries, and ensuring inventory control and equipment maintenance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Surveyor Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Five years of responsible surveying work, including one year as a chief of party of a wide variety of surveying assignments; and graduation from high school. An Associate Degree in surveying or engineering technology may be substituted for one year of non-specialized experience; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a registered surveyor's license as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, or possession of a registered surveyor's license obtained in another public jurisdiction under requirements which are at least equal to those of Pennsylvania.
