Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs ( ESIA) is one of the world's leading schools of international affairs and one of the largest schools of international affairs in the United States. Located in the heart of Washington, D.C., its mission is to educate the next generation of international leaders, conduct research that advances understanding of important global issues, and engage the policy community in the United States and around the world. The Institute for International Economic Policy (IIEP) at the Elliott School conducts non-partisan research on global economic issues, aiming to develop effective policies amid international controversies.
We're searching for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented part-time Program Coordinator to support the essential day-to-day operations of our Institute. This is a in-person, temporary position where you'll play a crucial role in supporting our programs and initiatives.

Under supervision of the Program Manager, the key responsibilities include:
Program Coordination

  • Supports event planning and logistics for multiple annual conferences, meetings, and special events in person and virtually.
  • Coordinates events and Institute promotion through the Institute's Emma email marketing platform and social media accounts.
  • Support the Program Manager in training and supervising a large cohort of student employees.


Budget Assistance

  • Prepares, tracks, reviews and submits the IIEP Director and Program Manager's monthly expense reports and receipts in Concur.
  • Supports the preparation of reports (NSF HERD, HEA, Monthly Budget Report) and correspondence to assist with compliance with federal regulations, university rules, departmental guidelines and funding requirements as appropriate.

Administrative Coordination
  • Support day-to-day office operations and organization, supply purchasing, maintenance requests, space and equipment management, and IT requests.
Grants and Sponsored Projects

  • Coordinates with the Institute Director, research administrators, and Principal Investigators on grant activities.
  • May support the Director with grant proposal re-application, budget tracking, assisting with compliance with sponsor guidelines, and assisting with closeout procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in using business software: Excel, Google Suite, etc.
  • Experience and/or interest in bookkeeping and budget tracking.
  • Experience coordinating events.
  • Interest in Economics, International Affairs, Business, or related IIEP research area.
  • Interest in working on a college campus and with student employees.
