Are you an experienced tax professional with a passion for precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement? Join World Kinect as a Senior Accountant - Excise Tax, where you'll play a key role in managing federal, state, and local fuel tax compliance across our global operations.

This is a high-impact role supporting audits, regulatory filings, and process enhancements-all within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual fuel excise and environmental tax returns in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Reconcile tax liability accounts using Blackline and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain and update databases for tax exemptions, rates, and jurisdictional rules.
  • Conduct tax research to ensure compliance with evolving filing requirements.
  • Utilize Avalara and AKORE for jurisdictional reporting and documentation.
  • Investigate and respond to tax notices, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
  • Address motor vehicle tax inquiries by interpreting state communications and regulations.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders in meeting compliance requirements.
  • Assist with audit activities, including research and resolution of indirect motor fuel tax issues.
  • Resolve tax-related disputes involving customers and suppliers.
  • Mentor junior accountants in tax law research and practical application.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience filing U.S. fuel excise tax returns.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external tax authorities.
  • Ability to interpret and explain motor fuel tax law to various stakeholders.
  • Experience with Oracle, PDI, or OTS ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (lookups, pivot tables, formulas).
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic and evolving business environment.
