Job Title: Customs Compliance Audit Specialist - Part Time Position Job Location: Chicago, Illinois Objective Focusing on customs entries, the CDZ Compliance Audit Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that all customs-related activities meet legal requirements, thereby minimizing the risk of penalties and facilitating smoother trade operations.
Responsibilities
- Audit of Customs Entries for ORD, IND
- Stay current with changes in customs regulations, trade agreements, and compliance requirements that affect customs entries
- Examine all relevant documentation related to customs entries, including invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and any other supporting documents
- Identify discrepancies or errors in customs entries, such as misclassification, incorrect valuation, and missing documentation.
- Assess the risk associated with customs entries and develop strategies to mitigate potential compliance issues
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing audit findings, compliance issues, and recommendations for corrective action to Sector Managers.
- Provide training to internal teams on best practices for preparing and submitting customs entries to ensure compliance.
- Follow up on the implementation of corrective actions based on audit findings and ensure that compliance improvements are sustained.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the customs entry function to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of audits, findings, and compliance efforts for future reference and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate with relevant stakeholders, including customs brokers, importers, and internal teams, regarding compliance issues and audit findings.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Recommended 2-4+ years of experience in brokerage with a freight forwarder
- Ability to update data elements, perform queries, resolve validations, shipment tracing, and navigation between multiple screens
- Experience in maintaining positive and professional customer relationships
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate status updates and resolve as outlined in policy and procedure
- Proficient use of Microsoft applications, including Office (Word & Excel), Outlook and Sharepoint
- Generate reports, perform queries, and validate data elements
- Research and compare data files/elements
Pay Range $25,21 - $33,61+ (Based on Experience)
