Overall Purpose

The Sr. Data Management Specialist develops and manages policy, standards, and procedures (PSPs), including exceptions, and leads complex Data Quality and Metadata projects. This role ensures solutions are impactful, cross functional, and delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Essential Functions

  • Supports the Enterprise PSPC program initiatives, with a focus on advancing Critical Data Element (CDE) certification, strengthening Policy, Standards, Procedures, and Controls (PSPC), and developing data governance metrics.

  • Identifies, develops, recommends, communicates and maintains Data Quality and Metadata PSPC content. Reviews and continuously improves PSPC content to ensure appropriateness and adequacy against best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Develops roadmaps and metrics to track and measure progress for the PSPC program.

  • Manage enterprise Critical Data Elements (CDE) certification program - ensuring all high-value assets are identified, and critical metadata attributes are defined and completed.

  • Develops roadmaps to complete certification of all CDEs by working with data owners, data stewards, and data custodians.

  • Creates program RACI to ensure accountability.

  • Creates OKRs, KPIs, KRIs to measure performance and progress.

  • Defines, collects, and tracks metadata and data quality metrics.

  • Develops reports and dashboards for leadership to measure maturity and progress.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve governance effectiveness.

  • Partners with Enterprise Data Governance and Risk Management teams, Data Governance Council, Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Custodians to implement standard and consistent practices.

  • Provides subject matter support to data governance best practice, tools, management, and operations.

  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of data governance maturity.

  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, data science, computer science, or related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Five (5) or more years' experience related to data governance strategy, implementation, and oversight of a firm-wide program.

  • Experience drafting documents, including reviewing, and editing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills to professionally address a wide and varied audience, including executive management, both internally and externally.

  • Experience with policy management, related frameworks, concepts, and practices.

  • Demonstrated skills as a self-starter, ability to work independently, manage through ambiguity, and deliver results.

  • Proven ability to partner and collaborate with others across an organization, including Compliance, Risk, Security, Operations, and IT.

  • Ability to solve complex problems, propose new perspectives and solutions.

  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize tasks, and deliver initiatives on time.

  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Working knowledge and experience within a formal "Three-Lines of Defense" program.

  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CDE certification, metadata management, or data quality framework.

  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Infomatica, Qualytics, Monte Carlo)

  • DAMA/DMBOK CDMP Certification.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $82,000 - $103,000.

New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $99,000 - $123,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
