Our pharmacy is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and self-motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our dedicated and passionate team and make a meaningful impact on patient well-being.

UW Veterinary Care Pharmacy is a full-service, licensed pharmacy that supports our veterinary patients through both inpatient and outpatient services. Our Pharmacy Technicians rotate through a variety of stations throughout the week, including sterile compounding of injections, non-sterile compounding of capsules and suspensions, outpatient data entry and prescription filling, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, and assisting customers with prescription pick up.

Anticipated schedule for this vacancy is Monday - Friday from 10:00am - 6:30pm with rotating weekends.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Receives, accurately measures, and labels medications based on prescription requests
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for customers, provides information, and processes prescription transactions and insurance claims according to established policies and procedures
  • Enters, audits, and amends prescription information and patient information in database and maintains patient records and medication inventory in accordance with regulatory policies and procedures

Compensation:

The starting hourly rate for the position is $20.00 (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications).

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior pharmacy work experience

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)

  • High attention to detail

  • Effective teamwork and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to read and interpret prescription requests accurately

  • Ability to prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products, including but not limited to the use and manipulation of a mortar and pestle and syringes and needles

  • Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations

  • Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician Registration upon hire


Physical Requirements:


  • Constant standing and walking

  • Constant handling, grasping, eye/hand/foot coordination, and repetitive motions

  • Frequent carrying up to 50 pounds

  • Frequent reaching

  • Occasional lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds

  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching


Preferred Qualifications: Education:

  • High School Diploma Required

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Preferred
