The Inspection & Test Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the inspection, testing, and compliance of fire protection systems. This includes managing inspection teams, coordinating schedules, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards, federal/state/local codes, and customer requirements. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and proven experience with fire protection inspections, including work for federal government clients. The Inspection & Test Manager must uphold a high level of quality, promote safety, pursue industry certifications, and stay current with new codes and technologies in the fire protection industry.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee all inspection and testing activities for fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA, state/local codes, and project specifications.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage inspection teams to complete required services efficiently and on time.
  • Review inspection/test reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for inspection/testing clients, including federal government clients.
  • Conduct walk-throughs to assess system requirements and coordinate scheduling with clients.
  • Provide clear communication of inspection findings and necessary corrective actions.
  • Supervise inspectors and testing personnel, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training for staff.
  • Ensure teams have proper certifications, tools, and resources.
  • Ensure inspection/testing work complies with NFPA, OSHA, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate inspection/test documentation.
  • Support audit and compliance processes, including for federal procurement requirements.
  • Participate in developing inspection/testing estimates and proposals.
  • Assist in preparing bids for inspection/testing contracts, ensuring compliance with federal procurement regulations (FAR, DFARS, etc.).
  • Maintain a high standard of quality in all inspection and testing activities.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety across inspection teams.
  • Pursue industry certifications and encourage staff to do the same.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma with 10+ years of experience
  • Associate's degree with 8+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain a secret Clearance.

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
