Job Summary




Responsible for the overall cost accounting functions, including set up and maintenance of accurate standard cost information, reconciliation of standard costs to actual costs, maintenance of perpetual inventory, participating in month end close and budgeting process, and assisting the VP Finance with required audits.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities





  • Apply cost accounting principles to develop costs systems, recommend improvements, and implement and maintain approved recommendations.
  • Collect and analyze data on costs on material and labor to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of various business activities.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on costs.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs by major program.
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Develop and maintain cost procedure manual.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Education and Experience





  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years' experience in aerospace cost accounting or 7-10 years' experience in high volume manufacturing cost accounting.

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and compute rate, ratio and percent.
    • Ability to present and interpret data prepared either numerically or graphically.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to deal with and solve simple to moderate problems that present themselves in the normal course of daily activities.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards







Supervisory Responsibilities




Minimum one (3) year Supervisory Experience.

Oversee and manage accounting staff.
