Pay: $35.77/hr. plus fringe benefit of $9.87/hr.


Hours: Monday to Friday - Time TBD

Position Summary

The EDS Operator supports 24/7 operations of a high-containment research facility by operating, monitoring, maintaining, and repairing the Effluent Decontamination System (EDS) and associated utility systems. The effluent decontamination system (EDS) provides thermal waste processing for a research laboratory 24/7, 365 days per year. This role ensures continuous, safe, and compliant treatment of laboratory waste streams while supporting facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and instrumentation systems.

This is a hands-on, multi-trade position requiring independent judgment, technical depth, and strict adherence to safety, security, and biological containment protocols.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain the Effluent Decontamination System (EDS).
  • Monitor building automation systems and respond to alarms.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Maintain HVAC, plumbing, piping, and utility systems.
  • Calibrate and test instrumentation and controls.
  • Maintain logs, work orders, and system documentation.
  • Participate in rotating shifts.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience with industrial or utility system operations and maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with steam, pumps, valves, HVAC, and control systems.
  • Employees may be subject to immunization and testing requirements pursuant to client and current company requirements.
  • Employees must meet the requirements of the federal credentialing process to access the facility, which includes but is not limited to, obtaining facility access (PIV card, smart card, access card, badge) and meeting ongoing training and access requirements.
  • Employees may be required to participate in the select agent program which would include additional background investigations, training and performing work in a bio-containment facility, as well as meeting ongoing program requirements to maintain eligibility and compliance.


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.


Work Schedule

  • Rotating shifts supporting 24/7/365 operations
