*** IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS MANAGER, OR BE REACHABLE ON THE OPEN-COMPETITIVE LIST, EXAM #4524.*** Minimum Qualifications 1. A master's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of progressively more responsible, full-time, satisfactory experience in Information Technology (IT) including applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing, or user services. At least eighteen (18) months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity in the areas of applications development, systems development, data communications and networking, database administration, data processing or in the supervision of staff performing these duties; or Preferred Skills
- Providing strategic leadership in database management, technical solutions, and data Provide strategic leadership and vision for the design, implementation, and management of NYC DOT's enterprise database environment, ensuring data integrity, availability, performance, and security. - Oversee and advance the agency's Data Warehouse initiative, integrating complex datasets from internal systems and external partners (including NYPD for Vision Zero) to deliver actionable business intelligence. - Lead the development and execution of enterprise data strategies, including data governance, architecture, and lifecycle management, to support evidence-based decision-making across the agency. - Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders throughout the software development life cycle to design, test, and deliver scalable, high-performing BI and data analytics solutions. - Establish and enforce best practices in database engineering, continuous integration, automation, source control, and performance tuning to ensure operational excellence. - Design and maintain logical and physical data models that optimize system performance and support large-scale analytics and reporting. - Drive innovation through the evaluation and implementation of emerging database technologies, cloud platforms, and automation tools that enhance efficiency and resilience. - Conduct business and systems analysis to identify opportunities for automation, data standardization, and reporting improvements that align with agency goals. - Champion data quality and governance initiatives, ensuring compliance with City IT policies, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory requirements. - Promote self-service analytics capabilities while maintaining enterprise data consistency and governance. - Oversee vendor relationships, licensing, and support agreements to ensure service quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with strategic objectives. - Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of database administrators, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and professional growth. 55a Program
