THE ROLE:

AMD's Cores Organization delivers industry leading CPU's that are the foundation of AMD's server, client, gaming and AI business. We are looking for an experienced leader to join this innovative team. This role will require leading a data analytics and tool development team that design, develop and deploy pre-silicon design metrics that define the global standard of tracking and reporting engineering progress of CPU design. This candidate will partner closely with program management and engineering leadership to gather requirements, define dashboards and reports, and support the evolving needs over time. In this role, the candidate will be a key contributor for AMD's next generation cores and join the team in Fort Collins, CO.

THE PERSON:

The candidate should have strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to details. We work on programs with long timelines, so self-motivation and commitment to meeting deadlines is required. We are pushing the envelope on chip performance, so the status quo must be challenged on every program. This requires creativity and innovation, but also excellent verbal and written communication skills. We work in small teams, but we are part of a large cross-site Core's organization, so teamwork is also vital our success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible creating a collaborative vision for CPU design metrics and mentoring a team to execute that vision.
  • Responsible for driving business processes and analytics that enable effective and efficient engineering of CPUs
  • Design, maintain & publish reports and dashboards utilized as a standard for the engineering team
  • Partner and collaborate with stakeholders to inform development and enable program evaluation of design quality and schedule
  • Drive adoption and operational rigor across the organization through gap analysis and proactive & creative problem solving

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to work with large, complex data sets and database building
  • Exceptional analytical and data processing skills using tools like PowerBI, SQL, MS Project/Excel
  • Intermediate to strong skills in programming with scripting and object-oriented languages
  • Knowledge of VLSI design concepts & tradeoffs
  • Familiar with programming languages such as Perl, C, tcl, etc.
  • Basic understanding of computer architecture
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
