Revenue Reporting Accounting Advisor

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Advisor to join our Revenue Team at a leading, publicly traded oil and gas company. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance with ASC 606. In addition, this role should focus specifically on oil and gas revenue leases. Including the analysis and review of lease agreements that pertain to royalty and working interest arrangements within the industry.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze marketing contracts and oil & gas leases to ensure accurate ASC 606 revenue recognition for royalty and working interest arrangements
  • Interpret lease language and partner with Legal and Operations to establish and maintain owner payment terms within PRA
  • Research and resolve owner, lease, and system discrepancies impacting revenue, billing, and payments
  • Process documentation and accounting/legal directives affecting owner setup, payment, or billing status
  • Support SOX compliance, internal controls, and serve as primary contact for internal and external auditors
  • Summarize and present complex revenue and lease data in clear, actionable insights for management
  • Support acquisitions and divestitures related to owner setup, payments, and revenue recognition
  • Drive process improvements and automation efforts while mentoring and supporting revenue accounting team members

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with significant oil & gas revenue accounting exposure
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606, revenue recognition, and oil & gas lease accounting
  • Experience with royalty and working interest ownership structures
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret complex contracts and lease language

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits in a SOX-compliant environment
  • Prior involvement in mergers, acquisitions, or divestiture within oil & gas
  • Experience driving process improvements, automation, or system enhancements
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within an accounting or revenue team
