CNB is looking for a qualified, motivated, and client- and team-focused individual to join our team as a Chief Innovation Officer. This position will be ON-SITE within our Hillsdale, Jackson, Kalamazoo or Lenawee Markets and will have the opportunity for occasional remote work as appropriate.
JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the Bank's day-to-day operations. This individual ensures all internal operational processes are efficient, effective, and align with the bank's strategic goals. The CIO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is a key member of the senior leadership team.
DUTIES
- Direct and manage the bank's operational departments, including Bank Operations, Loan Operations and Loan Administration.
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring operational processes maintain high client service standards.
- Lead change initiatives to ensure that the organization remains agile through the implementation of new technologies and process enhancement.
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure superior client experience across all banking services.
- Collaborate with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and execute the bank's strategic vision and drive strategic alignment across the organization.
- Identify emerging trends, evaluate new technologies and determined how they can be leveraged to improve services and products.
- Translate the bank's high-level strategy into specific operational objectives.
- Participate in formulation of business expansion plans and lead due diligence projects for any potential merger or acquisition activity
- Work cross functionally to develop and maintain robust internal controls and policies to minimize operational risk and protect the bank's assets. Work closely with various departments to ensure that innovation initiatives align with the bank's overall strategy.
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget for all operational departments.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to senior leadership and board of directors.
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing team of managers and associates by fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture.
- Remains current in assigned training and continuing education for designation retention (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.)
- Complies with all regulatory requirements specific to their position.
- Performs other various duties as assigned.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS - INTERNAL
- Communicates on a regular basis with members of management to offer advice and opinions concerning laws, regulations, internal controls, policies, or protocols.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS - EXTERNAL
- Communicates on a regular basis with external auditors, examiners, correspondent banks, and other bank related agencies and vendors.

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is preferred; otherwise, must have a combination of applicable education and experience.
- Must have minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in banking operations.
- Must have 5 years of leadership and management ability.
- Proven track record of optimizing business processes and scaling operations.
- Ability to provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
- Proficient in accounting principles and techniques.
- Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to effectively complete multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources, to ensure work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and positively adapt to routine changes while maintaining high performance standards.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Positive and cooperative approach when working with others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (tactfulness, cooperation, courteousness and client friendliness) are necessary to represent the bank in a positive manner.
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and effectively, with attention to detail for visually appealing output and accurately proofreading publications.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively present information to clients and management.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Ability to efficiently and accurately keyboard information, both computer and calculator.
- Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
