Position Summary

The FM Tech is accountable for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating mechanical components and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime in industrial operations. This role combines preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, machining, and fabrication tasks.

Th FM tech is also responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating mechanical components and equipment within an LNG onshore facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of plant systems through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and custom fabrication.

This position will be reporting to the Project Manager and based in client site, Papua New Guinea.


Duties And Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on LNG plant equipment (compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, valves).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime.

Fitting & Machining

  • Assemble, install, and align mechanical components according to LNG plant specifications.
  • Operate machining tools to fabricate or modify parts.

Fabrication

  • Fabricate metal components using cutting, forming, and welding techniques (MIG/TIG/Arc).
  • Interpret technical drawings and P&IDs for LNG systems.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to LNG-specific safety protocols, including hazardous area standards and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and LNG industry regulations.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and fabrication activities.
  • Report equipment performance and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Fabrication, or related field and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Welding Certification
  • LNG Safety Training
Experience
  • 3 -5 years in maintenance and fabrication within LNG or Oil and Gas industry.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Proficiency in welding, machining and mechanical assembly
  • Knowledge of LNG Plants systems
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to details and ability to work in high-risk environments.
  • Working knowledge of the Malaysian laws and decrees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organisation
  • Knowledge and ability to lead risk assessments, identify aspects and impacts, and perform HSE needs analysis and Implementation
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of successful, collaborative change leadership and management
  • Proficient with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
