*This individual will play a key role on the Innovation Team to assist in solving complex healthcare challenges, developing and testing innovative medical devices, and ensuring the successful management of multiple concurrent projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electrical, biomedical, mechanical, or software engineering, a passion for problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous professional growth.

Significant Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Innovation Team to identify and analyze clinical challenges and design innovative solutions to enhance patient care, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with the development and prototyping of new medical devices and technologies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand needs, gather requirements, and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform rigorous testing and validation of devices and systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety.
  • Collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously, including timelines and resources, to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the medical device and healthcare innovation fields.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of standards and methodologies for the department.
  • Participate in meetings as assigned and other committees/task forces.
  • Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care. As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors, and other employees.

Job Scope:

  • The Innovation Engineer will collaborate within the Innovation Team to design, develop, and test cutting-edge medical devices and solutions to address complex healthcare challenges within a hospital setting. This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to identify clinical needs, translating them into technical requirements, and deliver innovative, safe, and effective solutions. The engineer will collaborate on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while adhering to regulatory standards. Additionally, the Innovation Engineer will conduct rigorous device testing, provide technical support for existing systems, and stay abreast of emerging technologies to continuously advance healthcare innovation and patient outcomes. Excellent communication skills are vital as the Innovation Engineer may provide direction for clients, staff and vendors as well as lead efforts to resolve problems and difficulties in a given project. Requires moderate periods of sitting and/or standing and extensive use of CRT's and PC's. May require local and/or overnight travel.
