SUMMARY

This person maintains active and retired members' files, consults with terminating employees re: options available, and prepares checks for new retirees, and active and retired deaths


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Maintains liaison with the Treasurer's Office, Human Resources Department and Payroll.

* Answers the Retirement Office telephone and emails, handles retirement office correspondence.

* Answer retirees' questions and concerns, if appropriate refers them to the manager.

* Responsible for manual check production & distribution.

* Coordinates pension refunds & death benefits distributions.

* Responsible for vesting correspondence & paperwork,

* Responsible for collection of information on new hires and their enrollment into the pension system.

* Responsible mail distribution & maintain files.

* Maintain high confidentiality of information.

* Perform other administrative duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * High School graduate, college preferred.

* Minimum three (3) years of office support experience.

* Ability to acquire a working knowledge of the rules and procedures governing the county's pension plan.

* Excellent oral and written communications skills.

* Team player.

* Proficient in Word and Excel.

* Ability and desire to learn the Pension Administration System ( A user friendly Database system).
