Location: Admissions, Westboro MA Inpatient Treatment Campus

Schedule: Full Time (40 hours), 1st shift. Weekends may be required.

Pay Rate: $22.00-$25.00/hour

SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant provides administrative assistance to nursing and medical staff. This position assists nursing and medical staff by maintaining documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Greets clients in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Medical assistant will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing and/or nursing staff.
  • Obtains and records vital signs for new admissions and as needed by unit nursing.
  • Obtains medical history for new admissions.
  • Responsible for pulling charts from all units when the physician is on-site for signatures and returning to appropriate departments when completed.
  • Responsible for making copies of necessary medical documentation during admissions process and filing in charts.
  • Responsible for correspondence with pharmacy and coordinating medication transfers as needed.
  • Coordinate with outside providers for medication requests, appointment requests, obtaining PHI.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergency situations following protocols.
  • Responsible for stocking of all nursing stations including medications, medical supplies, and medical paperwork.
  • Completing routine medical supply inventory and submitting to DON.
  • Strictly adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality policies when responding to inquiries for client information or copies of information.
  • Demonstrates respect for supervisors, co-workers, and clients.
  • Ensures medical office spaces present as a clean and organized environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Able to work within a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Adheres to existing program/policies and procedures.
  • Consistently arrives for work on time and adheres to the program's attendance policies.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities and complete duties in the allotted time.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings as directed.
  • Always demonstrates honesty and integrity in the care of the clients and the use of the facility property.
  • Maintains adequate knowledge of the program's emergency preparedness plan and emergency procedures.
  • Participates in and completes all required mandatory training.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assisting program
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA)
  • Prior experience in a behavioral healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum three years computer experience and familiarity with Windows 2000, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word is required.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, talk and hear or otherwise perform any number of physical activities that may be required in completing daily tasks. Candidate may be asked to lift as much as 25 pounds while completing essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary, culturally diverse setting with clients, families, staff, and regulatory agencies.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Must attend annual mandatory in-service and education programs
