We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX). In this position you will play a critical part in spacecraft development and certification primarily supporting the Lunar Gateway Test, Verification, and Validation team.

Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer will:

    Support Test, Verification, and Validation (TVV) process definition and execution for Gateway Program and Vehicle Systems Integration (VSI) Office
  • Lead and coordinate TVV planning, integration, and execution across systems and programs, ensuring requirements, documentation, and verification events are successfully managed through closure
  • Serve as VSI project representative at TVV forums (e.g., working groups, control boards) in support of detailed Verification Objectives (DVOs), subsystem, test and acceptance
  • Review and support base-lining of detailed test planning and implementation documentation
  • Develop and aggregate verification cases into use cases/scenarios and test events
  • Support development and execution of Gateway TVV processes, from verification statements, through event planning, to verification closure (VCN/VCaN)
  • Support Verification Logic Network (VLN) development to identify sequence of verification events
  • Development of SharePoint pages to document T&V status and activities
  • Support development of cross-program Bi-lateral and Joint Integration and Verification Test Plans (BIVPs, JIVPs)
  • Coordinate with external programs (Orion, HLS, EHP) and identify Interface Requirements Documents (Visiting Vehicle IRD, Co-manifested Payload IRD, etc.)
  • Facilitate change management processes end-to-end document life-cycle


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus five (5) years of appropriate work experience
    -OR-
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus ten (10) years of appropriate work experience
    -OR-
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school, plus fifteen (15) years of appropriate work experience
  • Applied working knowledge of systems engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

Preferences:

  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.), especially related to vehicle development and/or hardware & software verification
  • INCOSE System Engineering Professional Certification
  • Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent engineering
  • Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
