For more than 75 years, their products have been used to build the communities where Americans live, work and play. We are seeking a Director of Tax & Investments in Brookfield, WI. Job Duties: Tax Strategy, Compliance & Planning * Lead the company's overall tax strategy to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. * Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns (corporate and family), property taxes, and other required filings. * Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities. * Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, assess impacts, and proactively adjust tax strategies. * Lead tax planning initiatives related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, and other business transactions. * Ensure compliance with transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and tax provision requirements (ASC 740). * Partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate tax accruals and financial reporting for income taxes (Corporate and family). Investment Management & Capital Strategy * Develop and manage the company's investment strategy to optimize return on cash, reserves, and strategic assets within defined risk parameters. * Oversee the evaluation, selection, and performance of investment vehicles (e.g., short-term instruments, equity holdings, funds, or real estate). * Partner with the CFO to assess capital allocation decisions, funding strategies, and portfolio diversification. * Analyze investment performance, risk exposure, and market trends to support data-driven decision-making. * Provide financial insight and recommendations on treasury operations, liquidity management, and balance sheet optimization. * Provide support performing due diligence reporting on potential acquisition targets. Advisory & Business Partnership * Serve as the primary tax and investment advisor to the Owner, CFO and executive leadership team. * Provide strategic guidance on corporate structure, entity planning, and long-term capital management. * Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Accounting, FP&A, and Treasury to align strategies and ensure operational efficiency. * Support strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, divestitures, and expansion into new markets or jurisdictions. Leadership & Governance * Lead, develop, and mentor. * Establish and maintain effective internal controls over tax and investment processes. * Foster a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement. * Prepare and present periodic reports and analyses to the owner, executive leadership and the Board of Directors. Experience & Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; Master's degree preferred. * CPA or equivalent certification required; additional certifications (e.g., CFA, MBT, JD/LLM in Tax) a plus. * 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or investment management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role. * Strong understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws; experience with international tax a plus. * Proven experience developing and managing corporate investment strategies or treasury portfolios. * Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills. * Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities. | |
