The Principal is responsible for the administration of all functions of the Secure Detention Education Program and oversees the education program for students enrolled.


Description

Job Responsibilities



  • Directly supervise the educational staff and support staff.
  • Administer the School program in accordance with the laws, regulations and policies of TFY.
  • Provide leadership, support, guidance and coordination to ensure a consistent and comprehensive approach to the implementation of the agency's Quality Improvement Program.
  • Ongoing evaluation and recommendation regarding resources needed to ensure operation of a progressive and effective educational program.
  • Oversee the hiring, professional development, performance management and discipline of school staff.
  • Ongoing review and evaluation of policies and procedures related to the educational program.
  • Ongoing evaluation of the educational curriculum, specialized services and support services offered to students.
  • Plan and process the use of financial grants from state and federal governments (i.e. Title I)
  • Actively participate in the intake screening of children referred to TFY to ascertain and ensure proper educational placement.
  • Actively participate in agency wide committees as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director.
  • Oversee all testing and assessment programs.
  • Remain knowledgeable of the most current changes, opportunities and approaches utilized in educational programs.
  • Participate in the ongoing assessment of staff training needs and coordinate in-service education of all instructional staff.
  • Participate in agency wide program evaluation activities.
  • Positively represent the Agency in designated community, county and or state committees and other professional organizations.
  • Prepare/maintain required documentation relative to employees as prescribed by the Agency.
  • Actively support staff in maintaining Sanctuary commitments and philosophy of trauma informed care.
  • Complete special projects within area of expertise as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Job Requirements



  • Master of Science in Education. Certificate in Advanced Studies (C.A.S.) in Administration preferred.
  • New York State licensure as a School Administrator.
  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • Minimum of four years of administrative and supervisory experience in an educational setting
