Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Wage: Based on Experience

Our client, a growing leader in custom metal fabrication and machining, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer - Process & Customer Solutions to join their team in West Branch, Iowa. The company specializes in laser cutting, precision bending, CNC machining, and welded assemblies for a wide range of industries and is guided by its EPIC Core Values - Excellence, Partnership, Innovation, and Customer-Centric focus.

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

- Oversee and manage fabrication processes to ensure projects meet technical and quality requirements

- Act as a technical point of contact for customers, providing clarity and solutions for manufacturability or design issues

- Collaborate with estimators to confirm accurate time, labor, and material projections

- Translate complex project requirements into clear shop instructions and process plans

- Partner with shop and welding teams to resolve technical questions and maintain production efficiency

- Identify process improvement opportunities to drive cost savings and quality consistency

- Support and guide the mechanical engineer assistant and collaborate cross-functionally across departments

- Maintain organized project records and documentation

Requirements for Mechanical Engineer:

- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

- 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing engineering or process management

- Strong understanding of fabrication methods including laser cutting, forming, welding and finishing

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, communicate with customers and coordinate between departments

- Hands-on problem-solving mindset with the ability to make data-driven process decisions

- Excellent customer communication and technical presentation skills

- Skilled in blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation and process documentation preferred

- Experience using SolidWorks, ERP, or quoting software preferred

- Previous experience in a custom fabrication or job-shop environment is a plus
