Job Description:

  1. Basic Function: This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting dies and fixtures before, during and after production runs to optimize performance and tool life.
  2. Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Die Maintenance Supervisor. This position is not responsible for supervising.
  3. Authority: This position has the authority to stop production and report issues to the


Stamping Department Manager, Die Maintenance Supervisor and/or Quality Manager(s).

  1. Responsibilities: (What should be accomplished)

    1. Is responsible for maintaining and sharpening dies as determined after evaluation of condition and performance.
    2. Is responsible for troubleshooting tooling during production runs for quality or performance issues.
    3. Is responsible for building new die components.
    4. Is responsible for identifying items to be purchased and working with the Die
    5. Is responsible for maintaining tool repair records in Plex.
    6. Is responsible for keeping records on die maintenance sheets


  2. Principle Duties: (Tasks)

    1. Maintain a clean and safe work environment
    2. Complete forms and submit to department manager for ordering materials
    3. Perform other duties as needed, including housekeeping
    4. Assist Stamping operators for quality production


  3. Standards of Performance

    1. Follows companies' attendance policy Follows Ultra's company core values
    2. Maintains a safe work environment
    3. Dies are evaluated, maintained, and recorded in a timely manner
    4. Minimum level of education/training required: This position requires successful completion of 4 years of high school, or equivalent, as well as successful completion of a state indentured tool and die apprenticeship program, or six or more years served as a nonindentured tool and die maker working on stamping dies.
    5. Minimum experience required: This position requires a journeyman tool maker with 3 years of experience in building, maintaining, and troubleshooting progressive tooling. Basic computer skills are also required.
    6. License or certificate required: Journeyman Card in Tool and Die.
