As the Sr. EHS Manager, you will be responsible for providing EHS functional leadership to all PPG Traffic Solutions facilities within the US & Canada region. You will lead a team of EHS professionals and partner closely with operational leaders to deploy and drive EHS strategies. The Sr. EHS Manager will report to the EHS Director for the Performance Coatings segment. This role is vital to our ability to achieve the PPG EHS Vision, Strategic Priorities and Goals. The position is a key enabler of performance improvement by guiding operations and EHS staff in using the PPG Way to benefit PPG's employees, reputation, cost structure and communities surrounding our facilities. The position is accountable to provide EHS functional leadership to all manufacturing, laboratories, distribution centers, refinish training centers, and offices for multiple strategic business units (SBUs). The successful employee has overall responsibility for leading the EHS function at approximately 15 locations across the Traffic Solutions SBU. The position directly supervises approximately 5 EHS managers/individual contributors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define strategies, with support of the EHS Centers of Expertise, to interact with government agencies to maintain PPG's good reputation for maintaining regulatory compliance.

  • Assure that appropriate responsibilities are assigned, implementation barriers are addressed and planned actions are tracked to achieve the EHS strategic priorities.

  • Build trust and respect with the key operations leaders to manage any changes in roles and responsibilities as a result of implementing the One PPG EHS management system approach. Assure operational leaders and supervisors maintain adequate knowledge of their PPG EHS and legal responsibilities.

  • Guide operational and EHS staff in completing root cause investigations of incidents, audit findings and NOVs; Assist in defining corrective actions and verify corrective actions are sustained.

  • Deploy global and SBU EHS strategies within the region.

  • Collaborate with other Regional EHS Managers, SBU EHS Directors and various EHS COEs to improve PPG's EHS programs.

  • Live the PPG Way by engaging and developing teams to create value for our businesses; Develop talent and a strong succession pipeline in the EHS function.

  • Identify and prioritize resources necessary to achieve the EHS vison, priorities and goals. Work with operational leaders to define the business case for changes.

  • Identify and prioritize spending, obtain approval for EHS budgets within the region, and manage spending accordingly, in full alignment with operational leaders and corporate, business unit and regional guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS field, engineering, chemistry or related science; Advanced degree/MBA or relevant certification would be advantageous.

  • 12+ years of relevant experience.

  • Prior management experience required.

  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety and/or environmental regulations and detailed knowledge of key business metrics, key drivers, business vision, and manufacturing processes/challenges as applicable to dive and align EHS objectives.

  • The role requires the ability to travel within the USCA region. The travel commitments vary according to business needs. Approximately 25%-50% travel is expected.

  • The role is hybrid - candidate may have a work location at a PPG facility within the USCA region.

The base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $175,000 USD + bonus plan.
