This position reports to the E&I Maintenance Supervisor and utilizes instrumentation and electrical skills based on education and experience to resolve instrument and electrical issues at the Lake Charles LyondellBasell facility. This includes troubleshooting, calibrating, and repair of all instrument and electrical equipment to maintain continuous operation of the site's operating units.

A Day In The Life:


Install, maintain, repair, overhaul, calibrate, and test a wide variety of industrial instrumentation used for measuring and controlling level, flow, pressure, temperature, position, and water analysis.
Perform troubleshooting of instrument systems and control loops to quickly identify and resolve equipment and process issues.
Conduct preventative maintenance inspections of control instruments, diagnose potential failures, and perform corrective actions.
Troubleshoot and maintain gas chromatographs, ensuring reliable system performance and software/hardware integration.
Lay out, install, and commission new metering, monitoring, and recording devices, including calibration and related electrical connections.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings for accurate installation and repair work.
Troubleshoot and support PLC hardware/software, recommend improvements, implement software changes, and document modifications.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable control system performance.
Maintain the ability to flex between instrumentation and electrical support as required to sustain plant operations.


Requirements:


High School Diploma or equivalent.
Associate degree in Instrumentation/Electrical Technology, or completion of a two-year instrumentation/electrical trade program.
3-5 years of hands-on instrumentation experience following journey-level status with strong troubleshooting abilities on instrument systems, control loops, and PLC-based systems.


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience with gas chromatographs, analytical instrumentation, and control system integration.
Demonstrates ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing operational needs
Demonstrates ability to navigate SAP system to update Work Orders, find parts in a B.O.M, and look up a list of spare parts in the storeroom.
