Position Purpose







This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of new and/or modified low voltage wiring and devices. This includes but is not limited to: troubleshooting, predictive and preventive maintenance, inspections, testing operations, service repairs or replacement of defective devices discovered during testing in relation to the fire alarm systems, life safety monitoring systems, and life safety deficiencies

Perform preventive maintenance and oversee apprentice Fire and Life Safety Technician during the course of inspections, testing sustaining services, troubleshooting and repairs and/or replacement of complex control; and life safety system components. Isolate and identify system hardware problems and troubleshoot and repair hardware failures. Calibrate field point devices, replace failed devices, fabricate cables and connect (to applicable components of life safety systems?). Install, connect, test, operate, modify, repair and replace controls, fuses, signaling devices, low voltage components, switches, timers, and low voltage wiring devices. Perform fire alarm shutdowns that can be done by keyboard changes at the panel.

The incumbent shall be knowledgeable of NFPA 101 and perform inspections, repairs, and modifications on other various items of life safety requirements and assist with life safety reviews and inspections of our facilities.






















Nature and Scope







The major challenges to this position are completing all work within established guidelines and building codes in an efficient and productive manner. This position may be required to draw up work plans and material lists for ordering materials. Other related duties and overtime may be required. This position has the authority to determine what is in need of repair or replacement. Assistance to other employees within Facilities Engineering is often required, i.e. other duties as assigned.

The major challenges to this position are to prioritize work requests based on impact of item not being completed while providing excellent customer satisfaction. Additionally, an accurate key inventory is crucial to the success and security of the facility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Education and training in Fire/Life Safety systems that can be through documented experience and/or professional development through an accredited technical college and/or apprenticeship program.

2. Establish and maintain automated records and manual log books.

3. Must be able to interpret complicated circuitry designs and have a good understanding of electronics devices and Fire Alarm Systems, monitoring systems and other life safety systems.

4. Ability to interpret prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, flow charts and written description of functions and project requirements.

5. Ability to operate electrical machines, equipment, and other hand and/or power tools needed to perform skilled -related job related tasks.

6. Ability to work in confined spaces and to gain access to areas that normally require stairs, ladders and scaffolding using specific methods to perform job tasks.

7. Ability to track jobs to completion and prioritize requirements; able to work and support shutdowns and projects schedules to minimize interference with others.

8. Ability to read information from equipment manufactures manuals, service request, layout sketches, blueprints, appropriate state and local government codes, trade-specific manuals and practices and the ability to determine how the fixture or equipment should perform.

9. Estimate time, material and supply needs to complete assigned jobs; monitor inventory levels of parts and supplies; assist in ordering parts and supplies as directed.

10. Maintain routine records related to assigned activities.

11. Must have a positive attitude and possess excellent customer service skills.

Education:



Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.



Experience:



Five years of experience in electronics, electrical technology, or equivalent education preferred.



License(s):



Valid State of Nevada or California driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.



Certification(s):



State of Nevada Type F Certificate of Registration upon hire



Computer / Typing:



Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
