The BUYER will ensure the day-to-day purchasing activities such as creating and submitting purchase orders, managing supplier execution to quality, on-time delivery, cost standards, and maintain and develop supplier relationships. This position interacts with all levels of staff and management as well as supplier representatives. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position may participate in one or more of the following duties as directed by supervision or management. Attend daily production and program status meetings. Obtain, document, and communicate status updates to internal customers on a regular basis. Monitor material requirements and generate purchase orders. Manage purchase orders through PO lifecycle. Drive on-time delivery for all inbound shipments. Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives. Build, develop and manage partnership relationships with Suppliers and contract manufacturers. Deliver value through material and process cost/variation reductions and visibility/communication improvements. Steward inventory investment through analysis of historical usage, planned and forecasted material requirements. Negotiate contracts, terms, and/or agreements concerning pricing, delivery, and quality with suppliers and monitor performance. Other duties as assigned. Responsible to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree; 5 years relevant experience; Experience in an ERP/MRP environment ASCM or industry standard training preferred; Aerospace industry experience preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Experience with supply chain and manufacturing processes, purchase order submittal, and supplier interaction. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to problem solve, communicate professionally, and collaborate with other departments. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a customer service orientation. Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment to drive action.
