The Field Support Center in Tucker, Georgia serves each GMS location, providing the support needed to enable local teams to deliver outstanding service to contractors and builders in their local communities.

Position Summary:


The primary functions of a Gypsum Management & Supply (GMS) Senior Accounting Manager are to maintain the corporate ledger and work cross functionally to ensure accuracy of the corporate ledger. The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for the GMS corporate general ledger and financial reporting, including implementing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role interacts with employees at all levels within the organization.



Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all financial information.
  • Prepare, post, review and reconcile monthly journal entries in Cadency.
  • Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and maintain in OneStream.
  • Prepare and review consolidated financials on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with the following:

    • Review of consolidation/elimination entries
    • Review of monthly/quarterly parent company deliverables
    • Purchase price allocations inclusive of opening balance sheet testing
    • Annual allocations distributed to GMS subsidiaries


  • Serve as a liaison between the subsidiaries and corporate accounting teams.
  • Prepare quarterly analytics for all corporate based entities.
  • Communicate accounting policies, procedures, and financial results to Corporate departmental management and respond to inquiries from the Controller and other managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Supervise and develop direct reports.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects within the corporate accounting group and collaborates with operations accounting on process improvement implementation.
  • Support the Corporate Controller and other managers with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including treasury, tax, regional accounting, IT and HR to ensure that all aspects of transactional and corporate financial reporting are analyzed and evaluated timely.
  • Take the lead in providing documentation and support for the annual financial statement audit.



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree emphasis in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • CPA preferred
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all general and advanced accounting procedures
  • General ledger oversight
  • Consolidated reporting
  • Transaction analysis
  • Year-end audit documentation/support

Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to remain in stationary position in an office environment: 80%
  • Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
