Job Description




As a Security Officer - Hospital Patrol Specialist in Gardendale, AL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As a Part-Time Security Officer, you'll use our exclusive Claim a Shift platform to view and Pick up open shifts based on your availability-giving you the freedom to build a schedule that works for you, while gaining valuable site experience across various industries. As a member of the Allied Universal team in a healthcare location, you will play a key role in helping to maintain a secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors. In this unarmed patrol post, you will conduct regular patrols throughout the facility, remain highly visible to help deter security-related incidents, and provide outstanding customer service. You will also interact with individuals in a professional manner and respond promptly to security-related concerns, all while reflecting our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies within a healthcare environment.
  • Help to deter unauthorized activities by conducting regular and random patrols throughout the facility and its surrounding perimeter.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Document and report security-related incidents, observations, and irregularities as required by site guidelines.
  • Assist with access control by monitoring entrances, exits, and visitor traffic within the healthcare location.
  • Support emergency response activities, including following evacuation procedures and assisting first responders when appropriate.
  • Maintain a visible presence to help to deter disruptions and reassure clients, staff, and visitors within the healthcare setting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Being at least 21 years of age is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
  • The ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Comfort with using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
