Medical Assistant - Oncology - 40 Hours - Days

An Oncology Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals within cancer treatment settings. Their responsibilities encompass both clinical and administrative tasks, including:

* Patient Preparation and Support: Assisting patients before examinations, taking vital signs, updating their health record, and providing necessary information about procedures.

* Clinical Assistance: Supporting physicians and nurses during examinations, performing phlebotomy, administering injections, collecting laboratory specimens (including molecular testing), and assisting with diagnostic tests such as biopsies and procedures.

* Administrative Duties: Scheduling appointments and maintaining electronic health records.

The Henry Ford cancer experts at Henry Ford Medical Center are dedicated to the care and treatment of cancer patients. This location offers a variety of services for our patients and their families including medical oncology and chemotherapy. Medical Oncologists offer the most advanced medical treatments for certain types of cancer.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, yhe Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.

These duties may include but are not limited to:

• The greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room,
• Obtaining medical histories,
• The measurement and recording of vital signs,
• Preparing patients for an examination/procedure,
• Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.
