Overview

The position requires a highly organized, goal-oriented operations manager with the technical acumen of a senior engineer to serve as client manager, program manager, and people manager for the US Data Center commissioning portfolio. The successful candidate will have specialized expertise in data centers and mission-critical facilities, plus prior experience managing people. This person will work closely with direct reports to ensure project performance and deliverables are met, revenue accrual and invoicing are well managed, and staff training goals are identified and achieved. Additionally, the operations manager will collaborate with the leadership team on workload planning and hiring needs.


Responsibilities

    Responsible for project planning and for managing schedules and budgets, either directly or through project managers, to complete work on time and within budget; plays a major role in conceptualizing designs and overseeing all project aspects, including reviewing the interdisciplinary team's work to secure and successfully manage projects using demonstrated technical and managerial skills. Self-perform and train staff on complex tasks, new systems, and new services.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and facilitate the exchange of project-related information through regular verbal and written communication, including preparing project status reports. Review all correspondence prior to issuance.
  • Assist in preparing accurate monthly billings, or more frequent billings as required, by submitting invoices to the accounting department in a timely manner.
  • Work independently with minimal direction by demonstrating success in similar project responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the hiring requisition process by assisting with requisition development, participating in interviews and candidate selection, reviewing and approving offer criteria, and supporting onboarding.
  • Manage performance reviews for direct reports by conducting annual and interim evaluations, monitoring progress toward goals, providing ongoing constructive feedback, and recommending annual compensation adjustments.
  • Support business development for new and existing clients by identifying potential clients through business and peer contacts, targeting new market sectors, and developing strategies to secure work and projects. Update and develop marketing materials and procedures and attend industry events and society meetings.
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of proposals and contracts by developing the project approach, scope of services, and budgets based on similar projects and historical data; participate in client interviews on project management topics. Negotiate fees, review and approve written proposal documents, and obtain authorized signatures on contracts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required
  • The applicant should be a US citizen and should be able to acquire a Federal Security Clearance sponsored by the company if needed.
  • Graduate from an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation for Engineering and Technology (A.E.T.) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' progressive experience in commissioning and/or retro-commissioning, managing projects independently, with a thorough understanding of the principles of the building systems operation. Fields of focus to include laboratory, life science, pharmaceutical and IQOQPQ.
  • Strong business development skills with a track record of identifying and securing new opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation of a computer and MS Office Software Suite.
  • Must have strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel nationally as needed.
  • Knowledge and experience with cloud-based Cx Software (CxAlloy preferred)
