| Job Description Summary: |
The George Washington University (GW) Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a part-time, temporary Research Assistant to support ongoing, externally funded clinical research. The Department delivers cutting-edge diagnostic care, provides exceptional training to the next generation of emergency physicians, and conducts innovative research to advance medical knowledge.
The Research Assistant will support clinical studies conducted in the Emergency Department and related hospital settings. Core responsibilities include screening and enrolling patients, obtaining informed consent, collecting study data, assisting with experimental procedures, and contributing to the administrative aspects of manuscript preparation. Additional routine office duties may be assigned. The individual will work under close supervision, and daily tasks do not require independent judgment.
Responsibilities
- Screen, consent, and enroll eligible participants in clinical research studies.
- Assist with data collection, data management, and data presentation for analysis.
- Support emergency medicine research protocols under the supervision of a faculty investigator.
- Perform routine clinical research activities, including operation of standard equipment and adherence to established procedures.
- Maintain clinical and office supplies; assist with equipment maintenance and preparation of materials (e.g., solutions, media).
- Interact professionally with patients, clinicians, and hospital staff while supporting study activities.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain study documents (IRB materials, surveys, consent forms).
- Maintain accurate and complete records to ensure data quality and protocol compliance.
- Identify and report issues encountered during clinical procedures or study operations.
