ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides psychiatric in-patient, on site, clinical services to adults, including evaluation, follow-up, medication management, emergency/crisis intervention, telephone consultation, peer-to-peer calls with insurance and referrals, etc. Provides clinical consultation with unit Treatment Team. Attends and participates in staff meetings and hospital-wide committees. Completes progress notes, discharge summaries, etc. in a timely manner. Facilitates efforts to maintain Joint Commission accreditation by ensuring accurate documentation is completed.

EDUCATION

• M.D. or D.O., including completion of internship and psychiatric residency.

• Current unrestricted Kentucky medical license.

• Board certified or board eligible in adult psychiatry.

• Active, unrestricted DEA license.

EXPERIENCE

• A minimum of six months in structured experiential learning (e.g., practicum or learning lab) in the field of psychiatry.

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

• Knowledge of available community services and programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

• Position has no unusual physical demands.

• May involve occasional exposure to threat of bodily harm from clients or their families.

• May require performing tasks on an unplanned or occasional basis that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue.

• Requires incumbent to provide one 12-hour shift per week (7a-7p) included in 40-hour on-site work week.
